Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She's written 15 books. She is also the co-founder of The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington works as an writer, philanthropist and television host, and owner of The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece she moved to England at the age of sixteen and then graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. She was the first student who was not from the UK to serve as the president of The Cambridge Union at the age 21. Her popularity as a columnist of the conservative side was confirmed after she graduated. When the Huffington Post was launched The Huffington Post a few months later, she launched an online voice-portal that provided critical opinions on the politics. The fame of her name helped to get a number of prominent contributors to publish their thoughts on politics news and culture. Arianna was famous after she was elected as an independent candidate in the California recall election to succeed Governor Davis. Apart from this she also led the Detroit initiative to encourage the use of fuel-efficient cars. Forbes declared her to be as one of the "most important woman" in media, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of 100 top media personalities in 2009. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her as president of the media group and also included several other AOL brands like Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli was born to Konstantinos Stasinopoulos and Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, who both are journalist and management consultants. She was very close with her father, but it was the relationship she had with her mother which formed her. She showed leadership traits throughout her childhood. When she was 16 she moved into the United Kingdom to pursue her study and then enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined Cambridge Union, a college debate group. As the third woman president and first foreigner, she served as the head of Cambridge Union. In 1972, she earned an education in Economics. After her graduation she worked as a columnist critic, and as a host on television. She also appeared in the show Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books taking editorial help from Bernard Levin.
